The kingdom of Stardale at sunset. Farmland, timber halls and a walled keep above the water.

Stardale

An ancient kingdom, fallen from its prime, and something is getting in through the cracks.

What this is

A small roleplay server where you arrive as somebody.

The medieval kingdom of Stardale is ancient and long past its prime. By tradition its people worship strange beings called Spirits, who work powerful magic. Recently, rifts in space and time have been opening around the kingdom, and things from other universes have started coming through.

You play a character, not an account. Everyone here made one, and everyone stays in it. The server is vanilla+ with ValhallaMMO and ValhallaRaces, so each character carries real attributes and abilities drawn from their race and class. Custom races, classes and abilities are made on request.

Cross-platform. Java and Bedrock play together.

A lantern-lit street in Stardale at night, timber buildings crowded around a vine-covered hall.
The common quarter, after dark.

Getting in

Three things, in this order.

  1. Read the Discord first

The rules and the lore live there, and you'll want both before you decide who you are. Join the Discord →

  2. Make a character

Write them into a signed book in game and run /submitcharacter while holding it. Check where it's got to with /mycharacter. Ask in Discord if you want a race, class or ability that doesn't exist yet, that's normal here.

  3. Connect

Or come the other way round: hop on, look at the place, and work out your character afterwards. Nobody minds.

What's here

Everything's custom, and most of it is hidden.

Races & classesCustom races, classes, abilities and nicknames. Build your own if ours don't fit.
Deep loreYears of it, and characters already living in it. Or write someone new.
Hidden basesFive lost sites, found by solving verses. /discoveries keeps your count.
QuestsA bounty board of twenty-four, from a night's work to month-long builds.
Rare weaponsUpgradeable tools, bound to the person who earns them.
NPCs & minibossesTraders, keepers, and things in the fields that are not rabbits.
Events & gamesFestivals, hunts and the occasional dare game with real stakes.
A real economyPlayer-driven and loosely held. Reagents buy what gold can't.
Texture packServer-side, so the place looks like itself.
ValhallaMMOProper skills and weapons under the roleplay.
Player-driven arcsThe plot moves because characters move it. Yours can too.
Zero pay-to-winNothing you can buy changes anything in game.
A building on a small floating island, high above the clouds at sunrise.
Somebody built this, and nobody will say who.
Cipher, a demon in a black and yellow robe, standing in front of duplicates of himself.

Who you'll meet

Cipher

The Court Demon, probably the most self-aware prankster you'll meet.

He's one of a cast you'll meet in the kingdom, most of whom belong to players, some of whom have been here longer than the walls.

Rules

+
  1. Stay in character in game. Once you know who your character is, stay in them as much as you can. Questions about the plot, or anything out of character, go in Discord.Loose, and not enforced hard.

  2. Don't make your character too OP. Everyone here has different powers and different disadvantages, and the story is built so they balance each other out. There's a lot of flexibility, just respect what everyone else is carrying. If you think something's too strong, say so.

  3. Drama in the roleplay is not drama in real life. How someone's character behaves is not how they behave. Don't take it too seriously.

  4. The plot and the lore matter. Bring whatever lore you like, as long as it fits what's already here. You don't have to know the lore. You do have to respect it.

  5. No hate speech, references to hate speech, hate crimes or hate groups. No exceptions.

  6. Tell us if you have an alt. Alts aren't banned, we just need to know.

  7. Don't loot anyone's base unless you've been told you can.

  8. No controversial topics, such as politics, religion and the like. Drawing on them for lore is fine; just be respectful of everyone's limits.

  9. Take no more than three diamond blocks from communal storage before asking.

  10. No cheating or griefing. X-ray, duping, griefing, looting, aimbot, speed or fly hacks, nuking, autoclicking, or anything else a mod decides counts.

  11. Be appropriate for all ages in all chats on the Minecraft server.
